Weather forecasters
Overall and per days ahead association rules (basket analysis).
Rules are composed of antecedents (‘if’s) and consequents (‘then’s). Support, simply put, is how often the given antecedent occurs in the database (what chance there is that you will have the opportunity to use the rule). Confidence is how often the given antecedent actually results in the given consequent (what percent of times the rule is true). Finally, lift is how many times the given confidence exceeds the confidence expected from independent variables (how meaningful the rules is). R stands for ‘rain’, and s for ‘no rain’.
Here, for practical purposes, only rules with 2–5 antecedents have been chosen, with support greater than 0.1 and confidence greater than 0.9. Note that what forecasters come together in a single rule is primarily determined by what forecaster were together in one season. Rules containing the control group have been removed.
