Japanese Civilization: Tokens and Manifestations

14-17 November 2013, Krakow

Polish Association for Japanese Studies  invites  for a conference “Japanese Civilization: Tokens and Manifestations”. The conference will be organized by the Department of Japanology and Sinology at the Jagiellonian University and the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology in Krakow. It will take place on 14-17 November 2013 in Krakow.

The Conference will cover a vast range of topics including history and social studies, language and literature, culture and arts. We welcome papers and panel proposals that address various problems of how Japanese civilization has been manifested and realized from the ancient times till the present day. We also welcome proposals addressing Japan’s social and political challenges posed by dynamic changes in contemporary Asia.

The conference language is English and Japanese.
The conference fee is 100 PLN (approx. 25 EUR).

Paper and panel proposal shall be submitted by 30 April 2013 on the address: cracow2013@gmail.com

Each participant whose paper proposal is accepted will receive a confirmation email by 15 May and will be requested to complete the registration and payment by 15 October through a secure website hosted by the Jagiellonian University (the link to the website will be made public in May 2013).

We also plan publishing a book with conference papers in 2014. If you would like to contribute, please submit a complete manuscript by 1 November 2013. Please note that the book will be published in English and we do not accept manuscripts in other languages.
